Testimonials from Our Community

  • "Amie’s Sit With Me event was such an inspiring and eye-opening experience. I really appreciated the honest conversations about disability, ableism, and how these issues affect us all. I left feeling both educated and empowered—realizing that disability is something every one of us may experience at some point in our lives. The event encouraged me to think differently about how we navigate and own our stories, and I’m grateful for the space it created for learning and connection."

  • “[I’m Able by] Sit with Me was an enlightening event. A room where we can all feel safe for discussion. I was able to be open about questions I wanted to ask and statements I wanted to make. During open mic, I had the opportunity to speak. I’m grateful for that."

  • "The space inspired me to become creative and express myself through various stories that were shared. They were powerful and emotionally satisfying. The voices enlightened perspectives of cultural diversity. They were vivid, rhythmic connections. Poetry provokes us to challenge our ability to write, share, and think outside of societal norms, which open doors to innovative, human worldliness and social connections. I can’t wait for the next event. Poetry is an expressive art that I truly love and enjoy. Stimulate my mind!"

  • "It was a great event. It invited people from the disability community, and we all came together. We shared ideas and thoughts through an artistic view. I do think it is a really vital issue because a lot of people who suffer with disabilities don't get out much. We don't have events that are exclusively for us and the ones that are, are limited. So this is actually something great to add to the community. We'll come together and share artistic views and communicate to come up with new ideas. So, it's definitely something that I want to continue to attend in the future. "
